- A high school education or equivalent, or relevant work experience is required.
- At least 6 months of relevant experience is required.
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including a shovel, pick, rake, sledgehammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, and leaf blower.
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as a tape measure and yardstick.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 150 pounds with equipment assistance.
- Ability to push and pull up to 300 pounds.

- Basic computer skills for retrieving and responding to email communications.
- Must work Saturdays; Wednesdays and Sundays are off.
- Maintain the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and groundskeeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, conducting interments, entombments, and inurnments, and performing simple repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Cut grass, maintain lawns, trim around trees, walkways, and memorial markers, lay sod, and move flowers to and from chapels and gravesides.
- Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways, including snow removal depending on the location.
- Erect tents and canopies and arrange chairs for graveside ceremonies.
- Assist with setup for openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments.
- Arrange chapels for services.
- Prepare crypts for entombments.
- Under supervision, operate a backhoe to dig graves without damaging surrounding vaults, markers, or monuments.
- Install grave markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces, and related items.
- Maintain and repair existing markers and other cemetery features.
- Maintain, service, clean, and properly store equipment.
- Perform general maintenance of vehicles.
- Clean and maintain facilities, including minor repairs and painting.
- Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and safety and environmental guidelines.
