Technical Service Engineer

Summary of the role

Nordson UK is seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Service Engineer to support the growing installed base of our powder coating systems across the UK and Ireland. This role is ideal for a technically adept engineer with strong electrical qualifications, a passion for customer service, and hands-on experience with industrial systems. The Technical Service Engineer will be responsible for supporting our customers, repairing, and maintaining Nordson powder coating equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

Role and Responsibilities

• Field Service Support: Provide on-site technical support, diagnosis, and maintenance for Nordson powder coating systems at customer sites from Midlands to Scotland and Ireland.

• Electrical Troubleshooting: Utilize advanced electrical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to industrial control systems

• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and inspections, in order to optimize customer efficiency and productivity.

• Application expertise: Develop strong powder coating application knowledge and train customers on best powder coating practices.

• System Upgrades and Modifications: Execute system updates, upgrades, and modifications to enhance equipment performance, aligning with customer requirements.

• Customer Training: Deliver hands-on training to customers, empowering them to understand, operate, and maintain Nordson powder coating systems effectively.

• Customer Support: Build strong, professional relationships with customers, demonstrating a passion for service excellence and ensuring customer needs are met with quality solutions.

• Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as technical support, sales, and engineering to achieve the best MTTR and share experience.  

Skills and Qualifications

• Electrical qualification as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Technician or minimum City & Guilds Qualification are required

• Proven experience in a field service role, ideally within industrial or technical environments

• Initial experience with industrial controls and automation systems is an advantage

• Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.

• Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, with an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical customers.

• Comprehensive understanding of electrical, and pneumatic systems as they relate to powder coating equipment.

• Clear, concise communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare detailed reports.

Travel

• Estimated 80%, Willingness to travel throughout the north of UK and Ireland.
