Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current or eligible Physician Assistant licensure.
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current or eligible licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications before the start date.
  • DHEC and Drug Enforcement Administration license applications must be started before the first day.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted, and respirator qualification.
  • Ability to maintain licenses, certifications, continuing nursing education or continuing medical education, and other credentials required by policy and state law.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct outpatient care to surgical oncology patients.
  • Take comprehensive histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Evaluate and treat patients using history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results under the practice agreement or scope-of-practice guideline.
  • Document and bill for direct care provided.
  • Use current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • Perform and participate in quality and performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participate in and support organizational accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
  • Participate actively in tumor boards and surgical oncology clinical trials.
  • Obtain surgical consents.
  • Develop an independent survivorship clinic for patient cancer surveillance.
  • Coordinate complex perioperative and postoperative surgical care.
  • Evaluate and manage new surgical patients in collaboration with the primary surgeon and surgical oncology team.
  • Travel to clinic sites in West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, and Nexton, with possible expansion to other sites.
  • Participate in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Maintain professional licenses and certifications as required by applicable policies and state law.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse candidates.
  • New graduates or experienced providers with an interest in surgical oncology or cancer care.
  • At least three years of Advanced Practice Provider experience in surgical oncology.
