Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Applicants must meet applicable department certification requirements.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing service personnel with patient-care activities and related services addressing patients’ personal needs and comfort.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, take vital signs, and change bed linens.
  • Serve and collect food trays and provide in-between-meal nourishment.
  • Clean, sterilize, store, and prepare supplies.
  • Transport patients safely from their rooms to various hospital areas while verifying the patient identification band, chart, and sending slip.
  • Assist patients to and from stretchers.
  • Assist nursing personnel with patient positioning and skin preparation.
  • Clean and prepare the surgical suite and disinfect stretchers between patients.
  • Receive supplies and restock department areas.
  • Maintain surgical-suite cleanliness and clean operating rooms at the end of the daily schedule.
  • Empty trash containers and suction-canister boxes and replace bags and boxes periodically throughout the day.
  • Maintain the attendant’s supply room, including cleaning solutions, floor-maintenance supplies, glass-polishing supplies, counters, and walls.
  • Maintain inventory of wet-vacuum hoses, floor tools, and brushes.
  • Mop floors between surgical procedures.
  • Clean the patient pantry and dining area and empty trash.
  • Return equipment to the storage room and keep the room orderly.
  • Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
