Requirements
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and hypothesis testing.
  • Experience designing interactive dashboards, reports, and executive-level presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data analysis libraries.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments, including AWS, Snowflake, and Dash.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and work directly with Research Scientists and other team members to complete a project from start to finish.
  • Ability to serve as lead author on reports and papers.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field plus 8 or more years of directly related work experience; or a Master’s degree in one of these fields plus 4 or more years of directly related work experience; or a PhD in one of these fields or equivalent experience plus 2 or more years of directly related work experience.
Responsibilities
  • Identify fundamental knowledge needed to enhance UL Research Institutes’ thought leadership and support its strategy.
  • Apply intensive and diverse knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts to specific research tasks, formulate and evaluate broad engineering research concepts, guide analysis of unique problems, and develop new and improved techniques and methods.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable data products and standardized data models across research domains.
  • Analyze emergency response data to determine trends and develop solutions.
  • Stay current with changing technologies by reading journals and scientific publications and attending academic conferences.
  • Plan, design, and complete initial and follow-up tests as needed to validate results.
  • Work with students and teams.
  • Present research results internally or externally as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
