Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn new techniques.

  • Ability to perform the required physical activities, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crawling, twisting, pushing or pulling, climbing, squatting, and lifting more than 50 pounds.
  • All candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening as applicable to this safety- and security-sensitive position.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor animal behavior and care for mice and/or rats, including rodent self-administration of addictive drugs, sucrose pellet self-administration, anxiety, alcohol drinking, and binge drinking models.
  • Administer novel pharmacological compounds that may reduce alcohol drinking and drug-related behaviors.
  • Perform wet laboratory techniques involving dissections and tissue preparation to examine effects on brain tissue.
  • Perform western blotting, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and polymerase chain reaction assays to assess compound function and genotype transgenic mice.
  • Collect and analyze data daily, enter data into Excel, and report activities and findings to Dr. Anderson through individual and laboratory meetings.
  • Perform survival surgeries under full anesthesia in mice and/or rats after receiving additional training.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences.
  • Experience working in wet laboratories and with animals.
  • Experience with polymerase chain reaction and western blotting.
  • Previous experience working with rodents.
  • Previous experience with self-administration and rodent surgeries.
