Requirements
  • At least 5 years of product management experience for consumer subscription applications at scale, including taking over an existing product and team and demonstrably changing its trajectory.
  • Experience making and owning difficult product decisions, including killing live projects, re-scoping quarters, and restructuring team operations.
  • Experience building or rebuilding an experimentation practice, including hypothesis quality, statistical literacy, and acting quickly on negative results.
  • Strong analytical skills, including pulling data, auditing a funnel, and challenging dashboards before relying on them.
  • Deep understanding of user-centric design, usability, and growth strategy for app platforms.
  • Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
  • Build an evidence-based assessment of the product, funnel, experiment record, and team operating practices during the first 90 days, and present the CPO with decisions attached.
  • Turn strategy into staffed, dated, owned commitments, assigning a directly responsible individual, decision date, success metric, and explicit kill criteria to every initiative.
  • Prioritize fewer, larger bets tied to measurable in-quarter outcomes, including deciding which work to stop.
  • Establish an experimentation program in which every material bet has a measurement vehicle before development and every readout produces a rollout, iteration, or kill decision on a defined date.
  • Set and track success metrics connected to conversion, retention, and revenue, and evaluate the validity of proxy metrics.
  • Raise expectations for ownership and follow-through, coach team members to meet them, and make decisions about process, scope, and team composition when coaching is insufficient.
  • Manage boundaries and joint commitments with Monetization, Customer Relationship Management, Content, and Engineering so cross-team work has one accountable owner.
  • Advocate for users in product decisions, including accessibility, usability, and enjoyment.
  • Set product vision and run the weekly operating processes needed to execute it.
  • Collaborate daily across engineering, design, data science, and marketing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Playing music at any level and understanding the difficulty and value of learning an instrument.
  • Experience in turnaround, transformation, or post-reorganization situations as a product manager, interim lead, or operator.
  • Experience with subscription and monetization strategy for direct-to-consumer products.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization, App Store Optimization, and organic growth for consumer applications.
  • Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Yousician provides an app-based platform for learning and playing multiple musical instruments, including guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, and singing. It uses a freemium model where users get one free lesson per day and can unlock unlimited lessons and a large library of songs with a paid subscription. The core offering is an interactive learning path that uses the device’s microphone to listen to real-time performance and give instant feedback on accuracy and timing. Lessons often include on-screen notation, backing tracks, and gamified progress with points and stars. The company also owns GuitarTuna, a popular instrument tuner. Yousician differentiates itself through proprietary audio recognition that provides immediate feedback, a gamified learning experience, and a broad catalog aimed at a wide audience. Its goal is to make music education more accessible and engaging for people around the world while growing its user base and subscription revenue.

Unseen Crescendo: The Explosion Of Musictech

Are you aware of how integral technology has become to music production and, therefore, to our music experiences? From its creation to our consumption, things are now very different from what they used to be even just a couple of years ago. . While the increasing utilisation of technology in music is nothing new, its impact has become more visible and transformative in recent times, particularly with the acceleration of AI. This further shift makes previously unseen trends more visible, accessible, and impactful. Basically, every facet of music is experiencing this remarkable crescendo, heralding new scenarios. In the past few weeks, Meta introduced MusicGen, an AI-powered tool that converts text into audio, marking its foray into Google’s similar AI offering, MusicLM. Meanwhile, Spotify made headlines when it removed thousands of AI-generated tracks shared by an AI startup called Boomy
