Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related technical field is required.
  • The candidate must have local and national contacts and the ability to develop and market to new and existing clients.
  • The candidate must have 15 or more years of experience in aquatic ecology, threatened and endangered species consultation, or environmental permitting and reporting.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of the City of Houston Environmental Criteria Manual and experience with Environmental Resource Inventories, Floodplain Health Assessments, TCEQ regulations, Geologic Assessments, and Sections 401, 402, and 404 of the Federal Clean Water Act regulations.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated client development and management experience to expand service delivery to public-sector, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, and real estate markets.
  • The candidate must be able to provide senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the ecological practice.
  • The candidate must have experience working with state and federal regulators and understand regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Responsibilities
  • Help grow the Ecological Practice in the Houston office.
  • Develop business for CEC through existing networks and internal CEC resources.
  • Collaborate with staff ecologists and lead projects.
  • Expand delivery of ecological services to public-sector, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, and real estate markets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Wetland Scientist certification.
  • Proficiency in geographic information systems.
  • Permitting experience with the City of Houston.
  • Familiarity with the Houston Land Development Code, Section 25-8-121, Title 30-5, and Edwards Aquifer rules under Title 30 TAC Chapter 213.
  • Experience with National Environmental Policy Act and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission projects.
