Defense Systems Software Security Engineer
The Opportunity:
As a systems software engineer, you know that good software is more than just a nice-looking interface + data. You need the right combination of clean code, APIs, analytics, and infrastructure to develop a user-focused solution. You are focused on "baking cyber in" early in the systems engineering lifecycle to ensure our clients receive systems and software they can trust to execute their mission. We’re looking for a systems software security engineer like you to lead a team as they develop efficient and effective and secure software, from vision to production-ready system, in an exciting, agile environment.
As a seasoned software engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to deliver complete end-to-end solutions to your clients. Using your software engineering expertise, you’ll analyze the environment to ensure that your team’s solutions consider the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements. You’ll share your skills as your team utilizes new tools and techniques while helping to identify and implement system improvements.

You Have:
8+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications using agile methods
8+ years of experience with software development and its basic programming languages, technologies, tools, or web development stacks
Experience with Agile methodology, extreme programming, software engineering, product management, and software products
Experience writing source code for new applications or generating and enhancing code samples for existing applications
Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
Experience mentoring or supervising employees within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Ability to work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
Ability to execute software planning, requirements, risk management, design, development, architecture, modeling, estimation, configuration management, quality, security, and tests using software development methodologies, architectural structures, viewpoints, styles, design decisions, and frameworks across all lifecycle phases
Secret clearance

Nice If You Have:
Experience with Java, Python, C#, C/C++, .NET, JavaScript, React, NodeJS, PHP, or Drupal
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, or GitHub Actions

Master’s degree (MS Engineering, Computer Science, or similar)

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
