About This Role

Hello prospective pickle! Design Pickle is looking for an experienced Applied Machine Learning Engineer to join our team and help us develop new ways to inspire our customers and streamline processes for our global network of creatives. You will build and maintain the right data pipelines and data models to power our decision-making and enable actionable insights.

The ideal candidate will have a strong hybrid skill set that combines data science and software engineering to build scalable, flexible, and extensible AI-driven applications, and a deep understanding of data analytics, and data integration solutions. This role is crucial for developing robust, production-ready architectures that support generative AI applications and data products. Reports to: Data Team Manager

On a daily basis, works closely with: Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing and Global Operations.

Location: Design Pickle is a fully remote company with a Company Hub in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rapidly conceptualize, develop, and deploy web applications that are data-driven and leverage AI to deliver innovative solutions.
• Utilize Python data science libraries such as Pandas and Sckit to process, analyze, and transform data for AI applications.
• Design, implement, and integrate production-grade generative AI APIs into applications, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members in data-centric roles, fostering skill development and best practices in data science and AI.
• Apply AI prompt engineering techniques to enhance model performance and drive accurate, efficient outcomes.
• Architect and deploy scalable data solutions supporting AI models and products, including full-stack proof-of-concept applications, production-grade APIs, and backend services for seamless integration.
• Balance rapid prototyping with production-grade development to ensure performance and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and communicate technical insights effectively to stakeholders.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of emerging AI tools and technologies in the marketplace, evaluating and applying them effectively to relevant use cases within the organization.

Specific to this role, we are looking for individuals who have…

• 3+ years of experience in data science and web application software engineering.
• 2+ years in building full stack applications to prove out concepts and prototypes.
• 2+ years of experience of building out AWS Ops architecture.
• Ability to communicate proactively and cross functionally with audiences of varying technical ability.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning.
• Familiarity with Pandas and Scikit, and other data science libraries.
• Proficiency with Snowflake,  including data integration, products, and leveraging these within machine learning workflows.
• Knowledge of implementing and integrating generative AI models and APIs.
• Experience with Gen AI prompt engineering and prompt optimization.
• Ability to incorporate concept and experiment code into production quality web application backend. 
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Bonus Pickle Points:

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related STEM field.
• Knowledge of containerization and deployment using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and ML.
• Experience Ruby on Rails backends and React.js.
