Requirements
  • A minimum of 2+ years of paralegal experience in a civil litigation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of California civil court procedures, rules, and filing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and legal document management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ABA-approved paralegal certificate, bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize trial binders, exhibit lists, witness files, and all trial materials for civil employment cases.
  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and subpoenas.
  • Manage discovery processes by propounding and responding to discovery, tracking deadlines, and organizing productions.
  • Coordinate depositions, including scheduling, preparing deposition outlines and summaries, and handling logistics.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings to support attorney strategy.
  • E-file documents with state and federal courts, manage court deadlines, and ensure compliance with local rules.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and court staff.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files with accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist attorneys with jury instruction preparation, verdict form drafting, and trial timeline coordination.
  • Support pre-trial motions, including motions in limine, and track all case-related statutes of limitations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Civil litigation trial preparation experience.
  • Hands-on experience preparing trial exhibits, binders, jury instructions, and witness materials.
  • Familiarity with California employment law matters, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage-and-hour matters.
  • Experience with e-filing platforms such as One Legal or File & ServeXpress, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in case management software such as Clio or MyCase, or similar software.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
