He has extensive experience handling matters involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act allegations, sanctions and export controls, money laundering, securities fraud, antitrust violations, terrorist financing, False Claims Act violations, and complex civil litigation under the US Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). His work frequently spans Latin America and other key markets, positioning him to help clients address risks across the region and around the world. "Few lawyers combine top-notch government investigations experience with a deep understanding of ATA litigation," said Ilana Eisenstein, who co-leads DLA Piper's Global Litigation and Regulatory practice and heads the firm's US Litigation practice. "Eric brings a distinctive perspective shaped by his work across government, enforcement, and private practice. That breadth of experience is exceptionally rare and further strengthens the counsel we provide clients facing high-stakes matters." Bruce spent more than a decade as a federal prosecutor in the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. He also served as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division and as Counselor to the US Attorney General at the Department of Justice. He is ranked Band 1 by Chambers for white collar crime defense and government investigations in the District of Columbia. "Eric is an outstanding addition to our team and reflects our continued commitment to enhancing our market-leading global investigations and enforcement platform," said John Hillebrecht, who co-leads the firm's White Collar Crime, Investigations, and Government Enforcement practice. He is the fourth partner to join the investigations team in Washington, DC in the past 18 months.

The event is headlined by two of the world's most influential technology lawyers: Bennett Borden, formerly of DLA Piper, now with the hybrid law and technology firm Clarion AI Law Partners, and Peter Stockburger, with Foley & Lardner, a Top 50 Global law firm. Top AI Innovators at AI Governance World include: - Kiteworks - is a cybersecurity and data protection company headquartered in San Mateo, California. Founded in 1999 (formerly known as Accellion), it provides a unified platform that secures sensitive content communications, such as email, file sharing, and managed file transfer (MFT). With the rise of autonomous, agentic AI, ReLeaf created its POI platform (US Patent 12,505,416) to immediately verify if real human intent is present at the moment of authorization. If human intent is verified, the transaction goes through; if an AI agent is detected without human authorization, the transaction is blocked. - Valora Technologies - is a leading software and service provider of automated document data mining, AutoClassification, and content analytics. The company empowers large enterprises, government agencies, and legal firms to manage, govern, and secure vast amounts of data. Valora specializes in turning complex, unstructured data into organized, actionable information. - LegalRM - is a software and IT consulting company that develops Information Governance and records management solutions. The firm helps leadership teams reduce operational complexity and strengthen risk management. Rather than just providing surface-level assessments, Triad embeds within a client's organization to implement solutions and remain accountable for durable, measurable results. Robert Smallwood, Founder & Chair of the AI Governance World Conference, stated, "Attendees at AI Governance World will have the opportunity to 'lift the hood' on the latest in AI governance technologies to secure and control AI, which is especially important with the rise of autonomous AI agents." AI Governance World Conference 2026 brings together top minds in AI governance, technology, and program management from diverse sectors such as law, healthcare, financial services, and government. Attendees can expect cutting-edge case studies, interactive workshops, technology deep dives, and invaluable networking with national and global experts from leading companies and organizations. Institutional investor newsletter - Q3 2026.

Institutional investor newsletter - Q3 2026. LinkedIn Facebook X 1. LPA template developed for Cendana. Cendana Capital, a seed venture fund-of-funds, engaged DLA Piper to develop a template limited partnership agreement (LPA) for emerging venture managers. Cendana regularly invests in managers raising their first institutional fund, a stage at which fund documentation is often underdeveloped. Cendana identified this initial institutional raise as an optimal moment to implement a balanced, investor-friendly partnership agreement and, through this initiative, aims to support emerging managers by offering a template designed to streamline fundraising and reduce legal negotiation. 2. Evolution of equity-only participations in rated product structures. The alternative assets industry continues to see an explosion in rated product structures - including rated funds, rated feeders, and collateralized fund obligations (CFOs) - driven primarily by the desire of regulated investors (such as insurance companies) to gain exposure to new asset classes in a capital-efficient, investment-grade format that offers more favorable risk-based capital treatment than direct equity investments in private funds. As sponsors struggle to find consistent sources of equity-only participants in these structures, equity participants with informed outside counsel are increasingly able to negotiate bespoke and highly favorable terms that can meaningfully enhance the risk-return profile of what is already a levered position in the capital structure. For guidance through such equity participation while the market evolves, please contact a DLA Piper attorney. 3. ILPA turns up the heat on organizational expenses. In May, the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) released new guidance aiming for sharper transparency and tighter cost control around fund formation, introducing a three-part framework that could reshape expectations for general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs). The proposal calls for 1) a hard cap on organizational expenses at the lower of five basis points of assets under management or $10 million, 2) fifty-fifty cost sharing on any amounts above that, and 3) legal-fee transparency, including calling for rate schedules and draft budgets to be shared upfront with LPs. As LPs digest ILPA's new framework, GPs may wish to prepare for more scrutiny and discussion with investors around fund formation costs. For more, please read DLA Piper's full alert. 4. Are continuation funds worth their salt? It looks like continuation funds - when a fund manager sells assets from one fund that it manages to another, instead of selling such assets to unaffiliated third parties - are here to stay. While institutional investors still have mixed responses to continuation transactions due to the questions they pose with respect to conflicts, valuation, and alignment between LPs and GPs, the proliferation and potential profitability of continuation funds signal that they could be the new normal. For more information on the material issues LPs may wish to consider when reviewing a proposed continuation transaction, LPs can review ILPA's continuation fund disclosure template, released in January. DLA Piper regularly advises its institutional investors on many of the template's key aspects, from pricing discipline to ensuring real alignment between the parties.

Orrick continues Structured Finance buildout with New York hire.

Orrick continues Structured Finance buildout with New York hire. Monday, August 17, 2026 Orrick announced today the strategic addition of Steven "Steve" Lozner as a partner in the firm's Structured Finance team in New York. Joining from DLA Piper, Lozner brings years of highly specialized legal experience and a top-tier educational background to his focus on collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), leveraged loan warehouse facilities, and complex asset-backed securitizations (ABS). Lozner's recruitment reflects Orrick's aggressive strategy of acquiring market-leading talent with the extensive years of practice experience necessary to handle high-stakes financial matters. In his practice, he leverages his deep industry knowledge to represent investment banks, financial institutions, issuers, collateral managers, and institutional investors. "We're thrilled with the caliber of talent that has joined our Structured Finance team, doubling in scale over the past 10 months and creating an unmatched platform to help our clients innovate across asset classes and at the intersection with private credit," said Leah Sanzari, Orrick's Global Structured Finance Group Leader. "Steve adds another high-quality practitioner as we meet demand from our clients and support them in executing on their dealflow." Lozner's addition is a key milestone in Orrick's rapid expansion. The firm has more than doubled the size of its Structured Finance team since October 2025, growing from 49 to 102 lawyers, including 35 partners. This strategic growth includes the addition of a 40-lawyer transatlantic CLO and asset-backed lending team last fall, two asset-backed securitization partners in London in May, and four additional partners across the U.S. and London in June. In total, the firm has added 16 partners and 55 lawyers across all levels of experience. "Orrick's commitment to structured finance is unsurpassed, and I am excited to collaborate with the world-class team they have attracted," said Lozner. Orrick is Chambers Band 1 ranked across five different areas of structured finance. Underscoring the firm's unparalleled market experience, Orrick was ranked the No. 2 CLO arranger counsel for H1 2026 - both globally and for the U.S. and Europe (Creditflux) - and ranked No. 1 as U.S. private credit arranger counsel and mid-market counsel.
