Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Hold valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida.
  • Hold valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to quality care.
  • Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Assess the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire the patient’s clinical history, and ensure that the information is accurately documented.
  • Position the patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulate technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Apply principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehend and comply with quality control standards and participate in all quality control tasks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in contrast medication administration.
  • Administer medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and other emergencies.
  • Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assist in supervising student technologists and training new technologists.
  • Utilize all corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure the safety of all customers.
  • Maintain reasonable, regular, and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
  • Maintain well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • Provide patient transport.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging. The facility offers advanced treatments including bispecific therapies and clinical trial participation, with plans to expand outpatient cell therapy programmes. Six board-certified medical oncologists and haematologists, supported by four advanced practice practitioners, provide care through a collaborative, patient-centred model. The opening represents a hospital-specialty collaboration aimed at bringing complex therapies closer to patients' homes.
