Requirements
- MS or PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or related fields, or equivalent years of experience
- Practical experience with Biological laboratory operations and workflows
- Strong communication skills and ability to cross collaborate with diverse scientific teams
- Strong presentation, training and documentation skills
- Made use of at least one major programming language, e.g. Python, C#, C/C++, or Java (including best practices for developing and maintaining the code base)
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Automation, software and scientific teams to design, deploy and validate new capabilities and lab automation solutions
- Coordinate communications with Ginkgo Automation stakeholders, partners and vendors
- Coordinate with stakeholder teams to perform design reviews and make decisions
- Set and manage project milestones
- Work with scientists to translate biological protocols into Ginkgo's custom intent software languages
- Develop automated experimental workflows for genetic engineering processes, strain cultivation, sample preparation, and multi-omics analysis
- Write software for custom Ginkgo Foundry operations portal services including protocol definition and data processing services
- Work with software engineers to address user feature requests
- Provide technical support to scientific teams
- Perform technical assessments on new tools and technologies and present to engineering and scientific teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with scientists or relevant field customers and providing engineering solutions to solve Bioengineering challenges
- Experience with laboratory automation systems and automated workflow design
- Practical experience with high-throughput biological processes
- Experience with workflow automation software and schedulers
- Experience with performing technical assessment of state-of-the-art technologies
- Experience working with coding standards, best software practices, version control and code review, unit testing
- Professional project management experience
- Experience with “design of experiment” (DoE)
- Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at the same time
