General Summary:

We seek a 3GPP System Engineer with demonstrated experience in wireless system design and standardization, with a focus on system levelsecurity design forsystem architecture and5G/6G protocols.

The focus of the job includes design of 5G/6G security features at the system level3GPP SA3 related design aspects and related standardization activities in 3GPP SA3.
 

The candidate is expected to directly participate in team design activities, studying security related design issues related to the latest 3GPP system features and working on innovative solutions to them.

The candidate is also expected to develop technical contributions for 3GPP SA3, give high quality presentations of them in 3GPP, work to obtain consensus, and proactively promote Qualcomm wireless technologies. 

Attendance to 3GPP SA3 is an essential part of the job. Consequently, the candidate is expected to be available to travel frequentlyto various international locations. Attendance of other industry groups may also become part of the job. 

The candidate will operate in collaboration with different teams within the company, including research projects and product groups. The candidate will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

*Global travel several times per year for standards organization forums.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Solid expertise in 3GPP system security architecture, in particular 5G and 6GSystemprinciples, security Protocols, etc.

• Good understanding of wireless radio technology principles related to security. 

• Experience in wireless security system design is essential

• Experience in 3GPP working groups is preferable, especially in SA3

• A good understanding of key business concepts and being able to relate this to various business strategies for both Qualcomm and others in the industry is also a plus

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and interpersonal skills is required.

• Candidate should highlight any experience as an editor, rapporteur or chair of standards bodies.

• Ability to work independently.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
PhD, Masters or equivalent mix of education and experience, in a field related to security, preferablecombined with wireless (cellular) communications.
