Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or higher with 5+ years of experience in radio-frequency systems design and debugging.
  • Strong hands-on experience in laboratory environments, including radio-frequency conducted measurements, over-the-air testing, and rework.
  • Experience with cellular and/or low-power mesh networks.
  • Proven experience with radio-frequency manufacturing line testing, fixture development, and validation.
  • Strong understanding of radio desense and coexistence testing.
  • Experience in radio-frequency certification and compliance, including PTCRB, electromagnetic interference, Federal Communications Commission, and CTIA requirements.
  • Ability to script in Python or a similar language for radio-frequency test automation and data analysis.
  • Proven collaboration experience with radio-frequency silicon vendors and internal electrical, mechanical, and firmware teams.
Responsibilities
  • Lead bring-up and production of state-of-the-art physical-layer wireless communication systems.
  • Design and simulate wireless systems optimized for ultra-low-power applications.
  • Perform link-budget modeling and system-level performance analysis.
  • Integrate and validate wireless technologies including cellular, low-power mesh networking, non-terrestrial networks, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and LoRa.
  • Collaborate across electrical, firmware, software, and mechanical teams to analyze radio-frequency telemetry data and optimize wireless network performance.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with antenna vendors, certification laboratories, and manufacturing partners.

Gridware, which makes sensors to evaluate electrical grid integrity and monitor power line hazards, has raised $55 million in a Series B round led by Al Gore's Generation Investment Management. The startup, which emerged from the CITRIS Foundry in spring 2020, plans to expand into Europe, beginning with the United Kingdom. The company's technology has reduced outages by up to 70% in some cases by preventing failures in advance or accelerating restoration after storms, according to CEO Tim Barat. The expansion comes as Ofgem, Great Britain's energy regulator, pursues an £80 billion network upgrade to accommodate increasing renewable power sources and surging data centre demand. Gridware's operational efficiency improvements aim to offset rising network expenses associated with the infrastructure upgrades.
