Course Description:
EDEA 332-001 Art Curriculum and Instruction - Elementary
An introduction to theories on children's visual expression and perception, lesson planning, and classroom-oriented studio practice.
Term: Winter 2026

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education
Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
Degree in Fine Arts or equivalent
Teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in the elementary schools
Experience
Expert Knowledge of elementary art education and of course content
Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministere de l'Education.
Experience teaching art in elementary schools
Experience teaching in the Quebec school system
Other
A commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date
Other information:
Familiarity using myCourses or similar online platforms
Familiarity with online platforms such as ZOOM are an asset
Familiarity with teaching blended classes
Understandings about equity and diversity issues and how to address these in classrooms
