Belvedere is seeking a highly qualified attorney to lead its legal team. Candidates will have experience working for a proprietary trading firm, a hedge fund, an SRO, a Broker-Dealer, a Futures Commission Merchant, or a similar organization. Other acceptable experiences include law firm experience with a focus on corporate and/or securities law, and/or regulatory litigation experience.
An active law license is required for this position.
What you’ll do
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts, including software licenses, data licenses, and other technology agreements, trading agreements, leases, services agreements, vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, insurance contracts, and other commercial agreements as needed
- Assist with maintenance of US and non-US entities, including drafting intercompany agreements, partnership agreements, and subscriptions, and managing corporate governance as needed
- Advise business on various commercial transactions from initial structuring to term sheet/LOI, to definitive documentation
- Investigating, learning, and applying applicable exchange and regulatory rules to Belvedere’s business lines
- Identifying legal/compliance issues and operational risks on an ongoing basis
- Analyze new statutes and regulations to determine the impact on the business
- Undertaking special projects as assigned
- Manage Belvedere’s Legal team
- Engage with and manage external counsel when required
What you’ll need
- 5+ years of experience within proprietary trading, a hedge fund, an SRO, a Broker-Dealer, a Futures Commission Merchant, or a similar organization
- JD required
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills both oral and written
- Excellent analytical, time management, and organization skills
- A high degree of flexibility, adaptability, and collaboration
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Understanding of legal and regulatory issues facing broker-dealers, hedge funds, and clearing organizations
- Interest in developing areas of financial regulation, including digital assets
