Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of a CAHEA-accredited educational program or equivalent.
  • Must be registry eligible or hold active certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and have a valid Massachusetts license in Radiation Therapy.
  • Must maintain annual documentation of the required Continuing Education Credits needed for licensure.
  • Must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient education to maximize compliance with the plan of care and provide family education when needed.
  • Monitor patients’ physical and physiological responses to treatment and refer patients for appropriate management when indicated.
  • Demonstrate respect for patient confidentiality, modesty, and privacy.
  • Administer radiation therapy accurately and safely, and monitor and report reactions, therapeutic responses, and inconsistencies.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development principles from infancy through the geriatric stage of life.
  • Assess patient-related data pertinent to age-specific needs and provide care according to department policies and procedures.
  • Position, immobilize, and align patients according to treatment plans and evaluate and solve setup problems.
  • Maintain logs and daily treatment records, including accurate documentation of treatment procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of scheduling, treatment, and billing procedures.
  • Understand and appropriately apply the functions of equipment, accessories, treatment methods, and protocols.
  • Work with the Senior Radiation Therapist to resolve clinical problems.
  • Use a quality assurance program covering treatment delivery and quality patient care.
  • Instruct and orient new Radiation Therapists, students, and staff members unfamiliar with the department or specific procedures.
  • Adapt contingency plans in response to variables influencing workload or schedules.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled departmental and therapist staff meetings.
  • Teach in the School of Radiation Therapy when elected.
  • Participate in professional activities, including meetings, committees or task forces, and writing or presenting scientific papers.
  • Supervise Radiation Therapist Clinical Assistants and students assigned to the area.
  • Participate in the clinical instruction and evaluation of Radiation Therapy Technology students.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
