Requirements
  • Proven experience in a global mobility role for approximately five to eight years.
  • Previous exposure to or knowledge of secondment management, global tax and social security issues, immigration, and international compensation for approximately five to eight years.
  • In-depth knowledge of United States immigration rules and processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate project management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Advanced information technology skills, including PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex mobility landscape with changing processes.
Responsibilities
  • Advise on all aspects of the firm’s secondment policies, procedures, and processes to ensure best practice, efficiency, and reduction of exceptions in the management of secondments.
  • Advise secondees on all aspects of their secondment placement, including remuneration, benefits, payroll, tax, and accommodation, to facilitate their integration into the firm and the host office.
  • Manage complex secondment queries on a case-by-case basis from Human Resources Shared Services or Human Resources Business Partners and assistants.
  • Interact with candidates, employees, and managers to answer immigration and relocation policy and program questions.
  • Deal with and advise on complex immigration information with assistance from the external immigration provider if required.
  • Manage the secondment lifecycle for all international moves between the firm’s global network offices and client locations, including hosting departure briefings with the secondee and liaising with management, Human Resources colleagues, and external providers.
  • Manage ad hoc projects within the Global Mobility team, working with other Human Resources or cross-functional team members as appropriate.
  • Deal with international remote-working queries in line with the firm’s policy and process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preference for experience gained in a professional services, partnership or in-house global mobility, expatriate tax or immigration role.
  • Previous experience of Workday or another human resources database.
  • Previous experience of global mobility technology.
  • Previous experience in managing United States shadow payroll.

Shareholders Are Showing Signs Of Dei Fatigue As Activists Push For More Votes

Shareholders are increasingly showing signs of DEI fatigue as political heat around the issue intensifies across corporate America. Both champions and critics of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies are again pushing companies this annual meeting season to either bolster or diminish their DEI policies via shareholder proposals. But so far, none of these proposals have garnered support from investors at Apple (APPL), Costco (COST), and John Deere (DE). And that's not expected to change as more votes are tabulated at more company shareholder meetings in the coming weeks and months, according to experts who follow these votes. "I don't expect this year that we will see many, if any, get majority support," said Elizabeth Bieber, head counsel for shareholder engagement and activism defense at Freshfields. "And I would expect that, when we look at the numbers, year over year, that we actually see waning support, regardless of which ideological side the proposal tends to fall on." As of the end of February, a total of 21 "anti-DEI" proposals and 16 "pro-DEI" proposals were set for a vote this year among publicly traded companies included in the Russell 3000, according to the voting recommendation firm ISS-Corporate
