Requirements
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Guard Card license, unarmed or armed as applicable.
  • Candidates must have one or more years of related security experience.
  • A high school degree is required.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of corporate safety and security practices, procedures, equipment, firearms, and console operation.
  • Candidates must be able to learn the use of firearms and safety equipment, including qualifying with firearms annually when applicable.
  • Candidates must possess personal computer skills and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be able to use good judgment, de-escalate situations, and provide calm and rational direction.
  • Candidates must be in good physical condition and able to walk, run, stoop, kneel, carry, and lift.
  • Candidates must be available to work the designated shift, after standard office hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Candidates must pass a valid credit and/or background check; a criminal check is conducted yearly for security associates.
  • This safety-sensitive position may require random alcohol and other drug testing.
Responsibilities
  • Greet all persons entering or calling the office buildings and provide requested information.
  • Enforce company security and life safety policies.
  • Respond to workplace violence, violent offenders, elevator incidents, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, alarm notifications, and other emergency situations.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and direct public safety officials when needed.
  • Patrol buildings and the campus by bike, foot, or car to provide physical security and safety protection.
  • Respond immediately to radio calls to investigate alarms and emergency situations.
  • Write initial loss, stolen-property, or incident reports and conduct follow-up investigations by reviewing documents and video and speaking with suspects and victims.
  • Assist management with investigations, testify in court, prepare court reports, and preserve evidence as needed.
  • Maintain facility access control using card-key systems, secure facilities at the end of the workday, and operate access-control systems to allow or deny access, create access cards, create system reports, and maintain databases.
  • Escort associates to and from facilities.
  • Assist with scheduled inspections of fire extinguishers, standpipe systems, public address systems, elevators, and fire alarm systems.
  • Carry a firearm when properly approved, qualify with the firearm at least annually, and intervene in situations involving imminent risk of harm when armed.
  • Assist with on-the-job training of new security associates and provide security awareness and new-hire security training.
  • Perform courier service to financial institutions for Nationwide companies.
  • Monitor electronic protection systems, including alarms, closed-circuit television, access control, fire, elevator, intercom, and other assigned systems.
  • Dispatch security, public safety, or other personnel to alarm conditions across the country from the alarm monitoring center.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hardware systems and maintain and modify software and data.
  • Provide database and activity reports based on alarm activity.
  • Direct vendors during installation processes and communicate with end users for training and problem resolution.
