Requirements
  • A master's degree in Social Work (MSW) is required.
  • Graduation from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required.
  • Training in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy is mandatory: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
  • Life support training is required, with Basic Life Support certification from an American Heart Association- or Red Cross-approved program obtained and maintained before the contract start date.
  • Clinical social work experience is required, either through a master's-level practicum or two years of post-MSW experience within the last three years in a clinical or treatment setting.
  • A current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker is required.
  • The position requires a Child Care National Agency Check with Inquiries.
  • The incumbent must practice within the bounds of the license or certification and the privileges granted by the medical treatment facility.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other government agencies for services.
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other backgrounds.
  • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, treatment procedures, acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses and injuries, common medications and their effects and side effects, and medical terminology.
  • Implement treatment modalities with individuals, children, families, and groups experiencing psychiatric, medical, and social problems to achieve treatment goals.
  • Independently provide counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, children, couples, and families.
  • Provide consultation to other staff about patients' psychosocial needs and the effects of psychosocial problems on health care and treatment compliance.
  • Participate in professional peer-review case conferences, research studies, or other organizations required at the medical treatment facility.
