Requirements
  • Current certificate of authority to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse in Ohio.
  • Graduate of a nurse practitioner program qualifying the graduate to sit for certification examination by a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Master of Science degree in Nursing.
  • Master's preparation and graduation from a physician assistant program qualifying the graduate to sit for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants examination.
  • Eligibility for Ohio licensure as a physician assistant.
  • No years of relevant experience are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide health care services within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other clinicians to provide a full scope of patient care.
  • Manage acute and stable chronic conditions and provide care during acute and chronic phases of illness.
  • Provide education and counseling to individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referrals to healthcare providers and community resources.
  • Manage medically complex patients before and after lung transplantation, including immunosuppression management and respiratory care.
  • Provide mostly inpatient care for adults in the lung transplant population and train for cross-coverage in an outpatient specialty care clinic.
  • Work closely with transplant pulmonologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, coordinators, and pharmacists.
  • Work a 40-hour-per-week, first-shift day schedule.
Desired Qualifications
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner qualification.
  • 0–2 years of intensive care unit, cardiac, transplant, or hospitalist experience.
