Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • $600 million buyback authority supports EPS accretion and management confidence.
  • Q1 2026 revenue grew 2.1% to $1.10 billion.
  • Comparable funeral preneed sales increased 6%, strengthening future demand visibility.

What critics are saying

  • Lower funeral volumes directly pressure higher-margin funeral revenue and EPS.
  • Earnings misses trigger sharp selloffs when margins and volume trends soften.
  • Valuation stays vulnerable if cremation mix and cemetery demand weaken.

What makes Service Corporation International unique

  • North America's largest deathcare provider gives SCI scale and procurement leverage.
  • Recurring preneed sales diversify revenue beyond at-need funeral volumes.
  • Robust operating cash flow funds buybacks, dividends, and acquisitions.

Well-known funeral directors shift careers to Highland Park Funeral Centre. Dean Gemmiti and Carl Brown are leaving Comstock/Kaye after a combined 80 years of service. A shakeup in the local funeral home business has led to two well-known funeral directors changing locations. Dean Gemmiti and Carl Brown have joined the Opus Tribute Group at Highland Park Funeral Centre after a combined 80 years at Comstock/Kaye Life Celebration Centre.
