Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Five to seven years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Support the development of financial reporting tools and analyses for evaluating the University’s financial performance, financial plan, strategic projects, and financing transactions.
  • Maintain or skillfully use external databases, including Oracle.
  • Assist the Treasury Director in preparing materials for Board meetings, including Financial Planning Committee meetings.
  • Partner with the Treasury Director to complete audit responsibilities related to the University’s employee benefits program and work with the auditor to resolve inquiries.
  • Identify and address areas for process improvement within finance and treasury operations, including the enterprise resource planning financial system transformation in Oracle and the treasury management system.
  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis to support finance and treasury.
  • Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across the University to execute and track strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Finance and the Office of Human Resources to develop the annual budget for University-wide staff benefit expenses.
  • Lead the ongoing review of accounting associated with staff benefit expenses.
  • Design and deliver quarterly actual and forecasted performance reports for staff benefit expenses and recoverable charges.
  • Prepare trend analyses for all staff benefit components, elevate observations, and partner with Human Resources to communicate recommended benefit adjustments.
  • Conduct analyses and make recommendations that support University decisions, including recommendations presented to the Board of Trustees for information sharing and/or formal approvals.
  • Complete the year-end closeout of the staff benefit pool and related analyses.
  • Lead the analysis of the benefit rate approved by the federal government and prepare the annual calculation for federal approval.
  • Establish and coordinate the overall budget for Finance and Administration.
  • Review and report on the Finance and Administration budget, expenses, and actual performance in accordance with the overall budget.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze a consolidated annual and intermediate budget plan and budget process, typically covering three to five years.
  • Review estimated expenditures, develop expenditure projections and periodic budget variance reports, and prepare forecasts and analyses.
  • Work mostly independently as a financial strategy and modeling contributor, act as a trusted advisor, and recommend improvements to financial strategy and financial situation.
  • Collaborate to create the long-term financial model reflecting strategic priorities.
  • Guide budget administrators to help ensure the integrity of financial analysis and planning.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Higher education finance, corporate or municipal finance, treasury management, and/or accounting experience.
  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in a STEM, business, accounting, or economics field.
  • Fluency in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated fluency with financial concepts, financial forecasting and/or modeling experience, and employee benefits concepts.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles financial statements.
  • The ability to interact quickly, thoughtfully, and impactfully with internal and external partners.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex information concisely and effectively for decision support at the highest level.
  • Proven attention to detail and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
