Requirements
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or geriatrics.
  • Current first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse license in Tennessee.
  • Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of older adults.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Staff training and customer service skills.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, tuberculosis test, and physical examination.
Responsibilities
  • Administer quality care to meet the total needs of residents.
  • Provide medication administration, handling, and storage.
  • Provide medication assistance in accordance with state regulations and company policy, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation.
  • Maintain the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintain accurate medication counts and the security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures related to controlled substances, narcotic counts, and documentation.
  • Use nursing judgment to evaluate changes in resident situations and report them to the Wellness Director or physician when appropriate.
  • Observe changes in resident status, needs, or preferences and communicate them to the Wellness Director.
  • Offer emotional and physical comfort and support to residents.
  • Report resident and staff concerns or issues to the Wellness Director or Executive Director, as designated.
  • Assist with monthly vital-sign and weight monitoring, or more frequently as required, and complete required documentation.
  • Assist with resident move-ins, move-outs, and discharge planning as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization's philosophy and written policies and procedures governing the Resident Services Department.
