  • You're a senior Strategist ready to lead, or a leader who still wants their hands on the strategy (the role is built for someone who genuinely wants both, not someone using management as an escape route from the craft).
  • You lead by being direct, giving hard feedback, and following up on commitments.
  • Your strategic instincts are sharp; you read Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Ahrefs, and competitive data and form a clear point of view quickly.
  • You understand how organic search ties into the broader business and can distinguish between deliverables that rank and those that move the business.
  • You hold the line under pressure and stay organized enough that quality oversight does not slip when delivery becomes heavy.
  • AI is already part of how you work; you have built it into your workflow and push tools further than most while guiding others on where AI accelerates thinking versus where judgment is required.
  • You care deeply about how people grow and view developing Strategists as essential work, not ancillary.
  • You have high agency and proactively raise issues, propose fixes, and contribute to improving the function without being asked.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a group of Strategists by conducting bi-weekly 1:1s, giving honest feedback on work and growth, and coaching skills that distinguish good strategists from great ones: analytical depth, business judgment, research instincts, and the ability to translate insight into client outcomes.
  • Hold the quality bar for your team by being accountable for what Strategists ship, identifying which work is risky and needs your oversight, determining who needs closer support, and selectively performing quality assurance rather than blanket reviews.
  • Run your own clients at full strength, maintaining the same high bar for strategy, delivery, and client outcomes as any senior individual contributor in the function.
  • Help build the team by screening and interviewing candidates for Strategist roles, contributing hiring input, and owning the onboarding of new Strategists; the team you inherit is the team you helped select.
  • Make the function repeatable by spotting recurring workflow friction, documenting what good looks like, and contributing to standard operating procedures that enable scaling without diluting quality; participate meaningfully in process work initiated by leadership.
  • Use AI as a core part of the strategy workflow, building workflows that move faster without losing rigor, and coaching Strategists on where AI accelerates thinking versus where judgment must drive the work.
