Requirements
  • The instructor must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The instructor must be willing and able to work with children and adults.
  • The instructor must have strong customer service skills.
  • The instructor must be able to take direction and work well in a team environment.
  • The instructor must have intermediate skiing or riding ability and a strong desire to learn and be trained.
  • The instructor must seek continuing educational opportunities.
  • The instructor must be available to work at least 15 days per season and attend the required orientation and training dates.
  • The instructor must be able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position at least 50 pounds occasionally.
  • The instructor must have the auditory and visual acuity needed to communicate with computers, phones, and mobile devices.
  • The instructor must be able to work for extended periods while standing, sliding, bending, and reaching on skis or a snowboard.
  • The instructor must be able to spend long periods outdoors in varying weather conditions, for a minimum of two hours.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, engaging instruction experiences in private and group settings to guests of all ages and ability levels, emphasizing guest safety and welfare.
  • Attend and complete required human resources training and orientation, as well as required Ski & Ride School on-snow and online training.
  • Adhere to all Crystal Mountain safety policies.
  • Act as a positive and professional ambassador of Crystal Mountain and the Ski & Ride School.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Attend designated meeting times on scheduled workdays.
  • Assist supervisors with lesson grouping, learning-area setup and teardown, lesson records, and incident reports as assigned.
  • Pursue professional development through Crystal Mountain training and/or external Professional Ski Instructors of America-American Association of Snowboard Instructors opportunities.
  • Care for, safeguard, and return the company-owned uniform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with children ages 4 to 12 in educational settings is preferred.
  • Previous teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience is preferred.

Crystal Mountain is a year-round mountain resort in Washington's Cascade Range and part of Alterra Mountain Company. It operates skiing and snowboarding terrain, lifts, lessons, rentals, dining and guest services during winter, with sightseeing and mountain activities extending the destination beyond the ski season. Resort employees work across mountain operations, hospitality, safety, food service and facilities. Crystal Mountain is distinct from similarly named resorts in other states, with its identity anchored to the Mount Rainier region.
