DVM 4120 International Development Issues in Africa (3 units)
Historical perspective on international development in Africa (colonialism, political regimes, population, conflicts). Areas of development, current and emerging issues linked to international development initiatives in Africa : health, education, food security, economy (including human and natural resources, debt burden, economic models, development strategies), human rights.

Prerequisite: 54 university units including DVM 2105, DVM 2106.

Requirements:
Ph.D completed or in progress, or, equivalent experience in the field of social sciences and International Development; university teaching experience is an asset. Candidates must submit a one-to-two page proposal on an important topic, outlining how they would teach this course (theme, content, literature, pedagogy).
