Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, such as civil, architectural, or construction engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Relevant experience supporting projects valued at $80 million or more from conception to completion across diverse commercial market sectors, including high-rise, multifamily or student housing, senior living, large-box industrial, and hospitality.
  • Prior conceptual estimating and bidding experience in commercial construction.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Ability to understand and solve complex challenges and present alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.
  • Proven experience implementing safety protocols and enforcing safety procedures on construction sites.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require work authorization sponsorship from the company currently or in the future.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, potentially exceeding 40 hours per week and requiring on-call availability 24 hours a day.
  • Ability to work with frequent autonomy in decision-making that impacts company results.
  • Ability to handle objects weighing up to 20 pounds and perform standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing as required.
Responsibilities
  • Execute and enforce safety standards, processes, and procedures, including conducting weekly safety inspections and monthly safety audits.
  • Enforce quality standards, processes, and procedures, and conduct quality control audits.
  • Direct construction activities and administrative processes through project planning, execution, and closure.
  • Support the identification and pursuit of new business development opportunities.
  • Estimate and take off project scope, cost, and duration; analyze subcontractor bids; select and contract subcontractors; and prepare bid proposals for owners.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions.
  • Recommend methods, materials, and layouts that reduce construction costs based on design needs and capabilities.
  • Determine required manpower, materials, and equipment from project start to finish within budgetary limitations.
  • Obtain permits and licenses and direct or monitor compliance with building and safety codes, regulations, and insurer requirements.
  • Study job specifications to determine construction methods that reduce costs, save time, and deliver value.
  • Maintain communication, project progress, and productive interaction among stakeholders to reduce overall risk.
  • Maintain construction documents and process administrative paperwork, including pay applications and project closeout documents.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensure accurate and timely project billings, and collect payments.
  • Maintain and control project scope and budget.
  • Prepare and update project manpower projections and coverage plans.
  • Initiate, review, and negotiate change orders.
  • Direct, coordinate, and monitor construction workers' activities on site to ensure specifications are met.
  • Conduct weekly owner, architect, and contractor meetings, subcontractor meetings, and internal staff meetings.
  • Generate new business opportunities and maintain successful client relationships.
  • Assign and lead the day-to-day work of Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching to Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents.
  • Represent and promote the company on job sites and in the community through industry and community associations and serve on leadership boards as appropriate.
  • Travel to changing construction sites and potentially travel nationwide.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
