Requirements
  • Nursing Adjunct Faculty must have a current nursing license and meet state licensing requirements.
  • Ability to design, implement, teach, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program.
  • Ability to design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the curriculum.
  • Experience documenting actions in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program review.
  • Experience leading simulation learning experiences in the Nursing Lab.
  • Ability to teach and evaluate students in the classroom (Didactic).
  • Ability to design an effective learning environment addressing contemporary issues in nursing.
  • Ability to support students’ progression academically and socially into the role of nursing.
  • Proficiency in using an array of assessment tools to evaluate student learning.
  • Experience participating in systematic plans for curriculum design, program evaluation and program revision.
  • Ability to develop student success plans and remediate at-risk students in collaboration with Course Lead Faculty.
  • Ability to facilitate nursing students’ application of theory to clinical practice (Clinical).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical agency representatives, staff, faculty, and students.
  • Ability to identify and communicate problem areas/clinical areas of concern and recommend changes and solutions.
  • Ability to maintain records on student performance (e.g., Student Success Plan, Progressive Disciplinary Plan, mid-term and final clinical evaluations).
  • Ability to complete clinical site evaluations.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures of the College and clinical facilities.
  • Ability to attend course faculty meetings during planning week to align clinical rotations with didactic courses.
  • Ability to plan, teach, and evaluate classroom, clinical, skills labs and other learning experiences with team members.
  • Ability to connect students to College resources for success.
  • Ability to participate in academic advisement and counseling of students.
  • Ability to coach students on soft skills including leadership, ethics, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, responsibility, dependability.
  • Ability to attend campus orientation and faculty meetings as applicable.
  • Ability to provide input to develop, evaluate, and revise program policies.
  • Ability to comply with FERPA training and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, teaches, and evaluates the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program.
  • Designs, implements, teaches, evaluates, and revises the curriculum.
  • Documents actions taken in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program review.
  • Leads simulation learning experiences in the Nursing Lab.
  • Teaches and evaluates students in the classroom.
  • Designs an effective learner environment that facilitates student learning to address contemporary issues in nursing.
  • Supports students’ progression in academics and socialization into the role of nursing.
  • Utilizes an array of assessment tools to evaluate student learning.
  • Participates in systematic plan for curriculum design, program evaluation and program revision.
  • Develops student success plans and remediates at-risk students in collaboration with Course Lead Faculty.
  • Facilitates the nursing students’ application of theory to clinical practice.
  • Attends healthcare facility/agency-based orientation.
  • Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of overall program, program outcomes and assigned course objectives.
  • Communicates effectively with clinical agency representatives, staff, faculty, and students.
  • Identifies and communicates problem areas/clinical areas of concern and recommends changes and solutions.
  • Provides daily and as needed communication with Course Lead Faculty concerning student progress.
  • Grades clinical papers and provides timely feedback.
  • Maintains records on student performance (Student Success Plan, Progressive Disciplinary Plan, and Mid-term and final clinical evaluations).
  • Completes clinical site evaluations.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of the College and assigned clinical facility.
  • Attends course faculty meetings during planning week to align clinical rotations with the didactic course.
  • Plans, teaches, and evaluates classroom, clinical, skills labs and other learning experiences with other team members.
  • Connects students to College resources for their success.
  • Participates in academic advisement and counseling of students.
  • Coaches students on soft skills including leadership, ethics, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, responsibility, dependability.
  • Attends campus-based orientation and faculty meetings as applicable.
  • Provides input to developing, evaluating, and revising program policies.
  • Protects student privacy by completing FERPA training and upholding FERPA guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Current nursing license and ability to meet state requirements (if not included in requirements)
  • Experience teaching in higher education nursing program
  • Experience in simulation-based education
  • Experience with curriculum development and program evaluation
  • Familiarity with FERPA and student privacy policies
