Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certification from the state of South Carolina as a Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Certified Phlebotomist
  • Minimum of one year of patient care experience in a health care facility
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures
  • Ability to make accurate physical observations of patients
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Successful completion of the Emergency Department Technician unit specific training and competency demonstration within the first six months of employment
Responsibilities
  • Perform multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care
  • Achieve desired outcomes in patient care
  • Pass the on-line course modules, phlebotomy training, and skills validation for basic and advanced skills within three months of hire
  • Maintain MUSC Hazmat and TACT trainings
  • Work irregular hours under stressful conditions, including rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
