Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certification from the state of South Carolina as a Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Certified Phlebotomist
  • Minimum of one year of patient care experience in a health care facility
  • Nursing student enrolled in an accredited institution with completion of one Adult Medical/Surgical course with hands-on clinical experience
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures
  • Ability to make accurate physical observations of patients
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to pass on-line course modules, phlebotomy training, and skills validation for basic and advanced skills within three months of hire
  • Successful completion of Emergency Department Technician unit specific training and competency demonstration within the first six months of employment
Responsibilities
  • Checking patients in when they arrive and documenting their ED complaint
  • Obtaining vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Performing EKGs
  • Starting IVs
  • Sending labs
  • Working together with the team to deliver patient-centered care
