What believers are saying

  • August 2026 Minnesota grant funds cold-climate heat-pump research for multifamily buildings.
  • JEA and Xcel fleet electrification programs keep RI embedded in utility procurement.
  • Efficiency Arizona launched in 2024, routing federal rebate dollars through RI programs.

What critics are saying

  • Utilities can internalize RI's advisory playbooks, shrinking repeatable services revenue by 2027.
  • Shifted Energy integration risks execution drag if DERMS sales miss utility pilots.
  • A failed federal rebate rollout in Arizona would damage RI's marquee program credibility.

What makes Resource Innovations unique

  • Shifted Energy acquisition, October 2025, adds turnkey DSM plus edge DERMS in one stack.
  • Morgan Stanley Capital Partners backing supports acquisitions and nationwide utility-program scaling.
  • RI combines consulting, rebate administration, and software for utilities like JEA and Xcel.

dcbel joins MassCEC pilot for bidirectional EV home power.

dcbel joins MassCEC pilot for bidirectional EV home power. The MassCEC pilot treats a bidirectional EV less as transport and more as a household power asset worth subsidising outright * August 12, 2026 dcbel is taking part in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center's (MassCEC) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) Pilot Program, which fully subsidises the cost of its Ara Home Energy Station, including installation, for eligible bidirectional EV owners. Massachusetts residents who own or lease a Nissan Leaf, a 2025 Polestar 3 or a 2025 Volvo EX90, and lack solar or storage, can apply through 30 September 2026. Once installed, Ara lets homeowners use their bidirectional EV to power the home when rates rise or blackouts strike, while supporting grid resilience across the state. dcbel says Ara can save homeowners up to US$1,300 a year through smart off-peak charging and by using the EV as a daily energy source, and can keep a home powered for up to 10 days during an outage. dcbel developed the programme with partners TMH, Resource Innovation and B2Q. MassCEC will use the pilot to gather data on system performance, environmental and financial impact, and user behaviour to guide future V2X initiatives across the state, with homeowners able to choose between different vehicle-to-grid programmes that Ara manages on their behalf. In a statement, Duc Duy Tran, Sales Lead at dcbel, said: "V2X is often discussed as a grid technology, but for homeowners, its real power begins at home. Ara helps turn a bidirectional EV from a vehicle into a central part of the home's energy mix, giving families a smarter way to manage power, prepare for outages, and increase their energy independence."
