Heritage Holding is a private equity firm that buys majority stakes in founder- and family-led U.S. businesses and grows them over the long term. It typically targets platform investments with enterprise values of $5–$100 million and raises capital from institutions and family offices. The firm differentiates itself through a hands-on, collaborative approach: it provides operational support, partners with existing management, and uses bolt-on acquisitions to scale. Unlike firms focused on short-term exits, Heritage Holding pursues patient, long-duration capital to build durable value rather than financial engineering. Its goal is to create sustainable growth and value by expanding profitable companies across sectors such as business services, healthcare, IT and industrial services, wealth management, and niche areas including MSPs, remote patient monitoring, commercial HVAC, power services, hydrovac, and RIAs managing $200–$750 million AUM.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Targets founder-led, profitable businesses with stable revenue and repeat customers.
  • Fits fragmented sectors like HVAC, MSPs, industrial services, and wealth management.
  • Hands-on operational support can accelerate software adoption, add-ons, and geographic expansion.

What critics are saying

  • Competition from strategics and larger sponsors compresses entry multiples and deal quality.
  • Concentrated platform exposure makes one integration failure disproportionately harmful to fund returns.
  • Regulatory shocks in healthcare or RIAs can quickly impair revenue and exit options.

What makes Heritage Holding unique

  • Founded in 2015 by Harvard Business School classmates Alex de Pfyffer and Ross Porter.
  • Uses committed family-office capital for long-term control acquisitions, not 3-5 year exits.
  • Completed 30-plus acquisitions across 10-plus platform companies in lower-middle-market B2B sectors.
