Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
  • Ability to provide care for patients in the specific age range assigned to the clinical area.
  • Training and ability to complete designated clerical responsibilities.
  • Communication, computer literacy, customer service, and preceptor skills.
  • Ability to follow organizational policies, HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality requirements, and patient-rights standards.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as directed by the registered nurse according to each patient's multidisciplinary plan of care.
  • Provide or assist patients with activities of daily living and fulfill designated and delegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care.
  • Assist with problem solving and troubleshooting in the care and maintenance of equipment, and help ensure adequate supplies are available on the unit.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, including glucose and urine pregnancy testing, when needed.
  • Provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned according to established policies and procedures.
  • Complete clerical responsibilities based on ability and training.
  • Check patients in for appointments and accurately verify demographics.
  • Complete check-in procedures, monitor patient waiting times, and communicate changes to patients as necessary.
  • Read and interpret insurance responses.
  • Apply insurance-rank requirements to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance for each encounter.
  • Ensure patients receive required disclosure and privacy information, and obtain necessary legal and financial signatures.
  • Explain the purpose of and complete required regulatory forms with patients.
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and confidentiality expectations.
