Requirements
  • You are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a comparable course, or you are in your gap year between your bachelor’s and master’s studies.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and execute small-scale laboratory experiments to optimize cell culture media preparation protocols, including shake flask experiments to test media performance through cell growth and production of Adeno-associated viral vectors.
  • Investigate and evaluate ranges of critical preparation parameters.
  • Analyze experimental data to establish robust, standardized operating ranges for the preparation protocol.
  • Work individually and as part of an intercultural team to achieve project goals within defined timelines.
  • Use scientific literature and past studies to extract critical information supporting the project.
Desired Qualifications
  • You ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • You preferably have initial practical experience in a laboratory setting, ideally with basic knowledge of cell culture, bioprocess concepts, and/or media preparation.
  • You have a good command of German.

Tempus AI raises $600M to scale AI-enhanced liquid biopsy platform for cancer recurrence detection

Tempus AI has raised $600 million in Series C funding to scale its machine learning platform for cancer recurrence detection through liquid biopsies. The investment was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with participation from Roche and Merck. Phase II trial data showed the AI-enhanced liquid biopsy analysis reduced false-negative results by 37% compared to conventional methods. Roche commits $75M upfront in blood cancer deal worth up to $1.53B

Roche has committed $75 million upfront to acquire global rights to Simcere Pharmaceutical's experimental blood-cancer drug SIM0660. The deal could reach $1.53 billion if the drug meets development, regulatory and commercial milestones, with additional tiered royalties. The agreement grants Roche exclusive development, manufacturing and commercialisation rights outside Simcere's retained markets. The upfront payment represents just 4.9% of the deal's total potential value. SIM0660 remains in preclinical stages. Roche generated CHF11.9 billion in core operating profit during the first half of the year. The company's US-quoted shares fell to $53.55 on Tuesday following the announcement.

Roche and Eli Lilly win FDA clearance for Alzheimer's blood test for over-55s

Roche and Eli Lilly have received FDA clearance for a blood test that helps detect signs of Alzheimer's disease in people aged 55 and older experiencing cognitive decline. The Elecsys pTau217 test measures a blood biomarker to determine whether patients are likely to have brain changes associated with Alzheimer's.
