Requirements
  • Availability for at least one hour on most Mondays through Thursdays between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
  • Experience as a classroom teacher, English-language learner, English as a second language, English-language development, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support professional.
  • Online instruction experience, with a college degree preferred.
  • Ability to build meaningful professional connections with students and create an encouraging, motivating learning environment with supportive corrections.
  • A laptop or desktop computer, webcam, clean and distraction-free environment, and reliable high-speed internet with connection speed of at least 20 Mbps.
  • Residence in and ability to tutor from an eligible U.S. state or Washington, DC.
  • Ability to attend at least 80% of claimed sessions.
  • Completion of an in-person fingerprint-based FBI background check and required onboarding steps after accepting an offer.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-designed, best-practice math and/or reading lessons to provide targeted support for students in kindergarten through grade 8, often at or below grade level.
  • Provide tutoring instruction in a virtual classroom.
  • Maintain virtual student behavior and engagement.
  • Provide students with practice time and guide them through supportive corrections.
  • Attend consistent, recurring weekly student sessions during the school year.
  • Complete the application, demonstration, and onboarding process.
  • Submit a five-minute one-way recorded introduction and demonstration of tutoring style if invited.
Desired Qualifications
  • Availability during the peak demand window of 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
  • Ability to tutor additional sessions outside the peak demand window.
  • Previous classroom teaching, English-language learner, English as a second language, English-language development, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support experience.
  • Online instruction experience.
  • College degree.
