Requirements
  • ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program completion and licensure; NCCPA certification; CCNE/ACEN accredited Nurse Practitioner program completion (master's, post-master's, or doctoral); ANCC certification or equivalent; New graduates are not eligible; Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct focused history taking and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic testing, and perform necessary procedures within a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Work closely with emergency department attendings in a collaborative care model, staffing all Emergency Severity Index levels 1, 2, and 3s.
  • Ordering and calling appropriate consults to coordinate specialty emergency care, inclusive of calling hospitalists for admissions.
  • Ability to multitask by seeing and managing multiple active patients at a time.
  • Document histories of present illness, clinical findings, interpretation of labs and imaging, disposition and treatment plans accurately in the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
  • Complete rotating shifts through the observation unit.
Desired Qualifications
  • 3 years clinical physician assistant or nurse practitioner experience preferred; or 2 years plus completion of an approved post-graduate emergency medicine training program.
  • The ideal candidate will have clinical emergency medicine and/or urgent care experience.
