Requirements
  • Experience in a Network Engineering role supporting enterprise or production environments.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing firewalls, routers and switches.
  • Experience provisioning and supporting cloud networking across Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong knowledge of local area networks, wide area networks, software-defined networking, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, Domain Name System and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience working with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • CCNA, JNCIA or an equivalent networking qualification.
  • Willingness to travel to UK and international OQC locations when required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain secure network infrastructure across cloud, lab and office environments.
  • Deliver network upgrades, new deployments and infrastructure improvements in collaboration with DevOps and project teams.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions, dynamic documentation and network architecture standards.
  • Implement network monitoring, performance optimisation and incident response to ensure highly available services.
  • Strengthen network security through access controls, encryption, security reviews and collaboration with IT teams.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to design networking solutions that support research, engineering and product delivery.
  • Mentor colleagues, share technical expertise and contribute to the continuous improvement of networking practices across OQC.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in data centre environments.
  • Experience designing networks for research and development or global production environments.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, Docker, Terraform, Border Gateway Protocol, Python or advanced Azure networking.
  • Experience working across Platform or DevOps engineering.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical development.
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working within scientific or high-performance computing environments.
