Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assisting program (preferred)
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Minimum one year previous experience working as a medical assistant or patient-facing role in a clinic or hospital setting
  • Proficiency in basic medical procedures, such as taking vital signs and administering medications
  • Knowledge of clinical and theoretical clinical processes and principles, along with medical practices protocols and standards
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws related to healthcare (HIPAA, scope of practice, etc.)
  • Proficiency in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in electronic medical record systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to help team members and ability to communicate clearly with many different levels of both medical and administrative staff
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations
  • Take and record patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Assist healthcare providers during medical procedures and examinations
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
  • Greet patients and visitors, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments
  • Analyze, update and maintain patients' medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Process lab specimens and prepare them for testing
  • Assist with insurance verification and billing tasks as needed
  • Provide patients and their families with information and instructions regarding their medical conditions, treatments, and medications
  • Educate patients and their families on preventive healthcare measures and lifestyle modifications
  • Ensure patients and their families understand their treatment plans and follow-up care instructions
  • Prepare exam rooms and medical equipment for patient use
  • Follow established protocols for infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials and medical waste in accordance with regulations
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of a medical assisting program (preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential (preferred)
  • Pediatric experience and vaccine administration experience highly preferred
