Requirements
  • A science-related degree or diploma, such as food science, chemistry, microbiology, or pharmaceutical.
  • At least 3 years of quality control or quality assurance experience in food manufacturing.
  • HACCP qualification or certification.
  • Experience writing standard operating procedures and customer complaint reports.
  • Experience performing direct and root-cause investigations of non-conformances in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly regarding product specifications and production documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Shift flexibility to provide support, including some weekend work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work primarily indoors in a food manufacturing environment and tolerate exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature variations, and food ingredients.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment, good manufacturing practices, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to conduct inspections throughout the facility.
  • Frequent use of computers and other office equipment, including typing.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and repeat the same movement as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, training, and support to Quality Control personnel.
  • Ensure quality inspections and monitoring activities are completed according to established procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Quality team members.
  • Communicate with Production and other departments on quality and food safety matters.
  • Escalate significant quality or food safety concerns to the QA Manager.
  • Monitor production processes for compliance with product specifications and food safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, work-in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Verify production quality checks, including GMP inspections, product weights, label verification, allergen controls, and metal detector verification.
  • Respond to production-floor quality issues and assist in determining corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily audit readiness throughout the facility.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain quality procedures, forms, records, and work instructions.
  • Review production documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Ensure quality records are maintained and retained according to company requirements.
  • Support procedural changes and verify their effectiveness.
  • Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and corrective-action development.
  • Prepare and maintain complaint and CAPA documentation for QA Manager review.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to verify timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Support and maintain facility food safety and quality programs.
  • Coordinate the Pest Control Program and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Support environmental monitoring, allergen management, sanitation validation, and other food safety programs.
  • Report food safety concerns and verify corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promote compliance with GMPs, Food Safety, Food Defense, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Verify incoming ingredients and packaging materials meet specification requirements.
  • Assist with supplier performance monitoring.
  • Issue Supplier Non-Conformance Reports when required.
  • Support investigations involving material quality concerns.
  • Support internal audits and routine facility inspections.
  • Assist during customer visits, regulatory inspections, and third-party audits.
  • Participate in traceability exercises, mock recalls, and recall activities.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of company food safety certification requirements.
  • Lead or participate in product sensory evaluations to verify product quality and consistency.
  • Monitor quality trends and escalate concerns to management.
  • Ensure retain samples are maintained and evaluated according to company requirements.
  • Analyze quality data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-functional quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support standardization of quality programs with affiliated manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Coordinate submission of product samples for third-party or customer testing.
  • Maintain quality supplies and laboratory inventory.
  • Perform incident, accident, and non-conformance investigations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Health & Safety regulations, GMPs, Food Safety, and Food Defense requirements.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
