Requirements
  • B.S. from an accredited university in engineering or science
  • Proficient in structural analysis: performing hand calculations and finite element modeling/analysis
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: loads, load paths, and design
  • Experience using FEMAP & NX Nastran
  • M.S. from an accredited university in engineering or science
  • Experience performing fatigue, fracture, buckling, nonlinear, and dynamic analyses
  • Experience in design and analysis for structural testing, and post-test model correlation
  • Experience in Matlab/Python or similar programming languages
  • Critical thinking: ABL engineers understand the “why” behind all design decisions, operational events and test outcomes
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity: ABL engineers must be comfortable defining their own pathway to an objective
  • End-to-end ownership
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis for primary and secondary launch vehicle structures using hand calculations and FEA
  • Provide analysis and support for structural tests
  • Provide peer review and guidance for other's analysis
  • Generate products for cross-disciplinary analyses
  • Build and maintain analysis and automation tools
