Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent is required.
  • At least three years of electrical design experience is required.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, processors, and/or digital signal processor-based designs, is required.
  • Experience with symbol and footprint design, schematic capture, and printed circuit board layout using OrCAD Capture, Allegro PCB Designer, or a similar toolset is required; OrCAD and Allegro will be used.
  • Experience with processors, microcontrollers, and/or digital signal processor-based designs is required.
  • Experience with network and Ethernet designs and common communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART is required.
  • Experience with hardware diagnostic tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and function generators, is required.
  • Ability to research, understand, and apply functional and technical specifications, datasheets, hardware manuals, and similar materials to electrical designs is required.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical design and development for prototype and production units across the product portfolio, from concept and detailed design through manufacturing release and product support.
  • Own detailed analog and digital electrical design work.
  • Perform schematic capture and printed circuit board layout and ensure robust, manufacturable designs.
  • Plan and execute design verification and validation activities, including board bring-up, troubleshooting, and performance characterization.
  • Perform highly accelerated life testing and environmental qualification testing according to DO-160G and similar requirements.
  • Produce, maintain, and review technical documentation, including highly accelerated life test summaries, test procedures, qualification test reports, and product drawings.
  • Own assigned tasks and subsystems within larger projects, follow department processes and standards, and ensure designs meet internal, customer, and functional requirements and schedule commitments.
  • Research and implement engineering design changes that improve manufacturability and robustness in coordination with the sustaining engineering team.
  • Explore and evaluate new technologies, standards, tools, and devices for potential integration into future products.
  • Participate in design reviews by presenting work and providing constructive feedback to peers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with embedded software, including C and assembly, and hardware-software integration.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160G or similar environmental and electrical qualification standards.
  • Experience with field-programmable gate array or application-specific integrated circuit design; Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays and toolset will be used.
