Responsibilities
  • Follow written laboratory analysis methods and ensure test methodologies are understood and accurately carried out.
  • Report results in a timely manner and compile, collate, and analyse quality data as required.
  • Record and retain results in the required paper, computer, or laboratory information management system format.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment in a clean and fully working condition, and report equipment issues to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Keep laboratory areas clean and tidy to auditable standards and maintain high hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain procedures required to determine laboratory performance, including daily malt checks and external analysis proficiency schemes.
  • Monitor consumable and chemical stock levels and promptly report shortages to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Maintain good working relationships within the laboratory and with internal customers.
  • Complete training to become proficient in all procedures and share technical knowledge with colleagues.
  • Comply with company, national, and international standards and legislation applicable to laboratory and business operations.
  • Comply with health and safety procedures, actively improve laboratory and site safety, and promptly report hazards, near misses, and accidents.
  • Support equal opportunities, diversity, and customer care in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Continuously assess personal performance and knowledge for improvement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of health and safety working directives and good practice.
  • Complete required training and remain aware of company policies and procedures.
  • Promote the company, its values, and the work of the team positively.

Richardson International handles grain globally and turns crops like canola and oats into food ingredients. It started in Kingston, Ontario as a grain trader and expanded west with a network of grain elevators, later creating Pioneer Grain Company in 1913. In 2013 it bought large portions of Viterra’s assets, enabling vertical integration across elevators, mills, and port terminals. Its goal is to provide end-to-end grain handling and processing on a global scale, moving crops from farm to shelf.
