Requirements
  • High school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in retail or restaurant settings.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Complete understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper procedures for equipment and safety hazards.
  • Solid knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising.
  • Ability to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to work in environments exposed to extreme temperatures, including kitchens, coolers, freezers, and sales floors.
  • Availability for varying shifts, including mornings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service by greeting guests, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
  • Lead, support, and reinforce company culture, guest service, and performance expectations across the deli team.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Manager to maintain appropriate staffing levels by interviewing candidates and extending job offers to qualified candidates.
  • Provide thorough and consistent training for new deli associates and ongoing support to enhance retention.
  • Set a strong example for the team and ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Assist guests with locating items on and off the sales floor and address service- or product-related concerns.
  • Manage the presentation of the service case, ensuring products are visually appealing and rotated to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and temperature logs.
  • Ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 AM and 5 PM.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment, including shelving, sales floors, and other necessary areas.
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice for occasional absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prior food service or cashier leadership experience in fast food, restaurant, retail, or grocery kitchen environments.

Schnuck Markets Acquires Festival Foods

Schnuck Markets, Inc. has acquired 100% of the shares of Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers, Inc. through the 1939 Group, Inc., owned by the Schnuck family. The acquisition includes shares from CEO Mark Skogen and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The 1939 Group will maintain the existing store banners and corporate headquarters, with Todd Schnuck as Chairman and CEO. The transaction is expected to close in October, subject to customary approvals.
