We are a venture-backed startup building the next generation of accounting software, and we’ve started with a suite of products that helps accounting teams run an efficient, accurate, and collaborative financial close. With Numeric, teams have verifiable, detailed financial data to make better decisions, faster.

We are well funded and backed by great investors, including Founders Fund, Long Journey Ventures, and many founders and CFOs. We have amazing customers, such as Betterment, Heap, Masterworks, and Public.com (and many others which we cannot name yet).

About the role

We are looking to bring in key first engineers to meet ambitious goals for the product and lay the foundation for Numeric’s engineering culture.

This is an opportunity to have a huge impact. You’ll own large portions of the product and develop the core architecture of the platform. Furthermore, you’ll drive toward the broader goals and make appropriate tradeoffs for an early, fast-moving startup. Finally, you’ll grow with the role and be prepared to expand your impact as we scale.

About you

We’re looking for experienced engineers who have developed a variety of software. We are building a product that helps people to do their best work; the right candidate will be driven by seeing his/her impact, which means understanding the users and the business. To that end, you:

• Take pride in building good software

• Are excited to hear pain points, desires, and feedback from customers

• Confidently own & build projects from beginning to end

• Can balance priorities; you’ll recognize when to double-down on engineering investment, and when to ship something fast

• Can identify where existing 3rd party solutions will do, or even when no solution will do

• Are ambitious–constantly improving and learning

Skills

• 2+ years of experience building and delivering web applications

• Experienced across the stack—backend, frontend, tooling, deployments, etc. Should be comfortable operating as a generalist and solving problems where they arise.

• Able to identify the core logic/abstractions of the business, own implementing large categories of functionality

• Backend focused; comfortable with SQL and data modeling/architecture

Our stack

Our main technologies are Typescript (React, Koa) and Postgres + SQL. Others we use (hosting, CI/CD, monitoring, admin, tooling) are subject to change!
