Requirements
  • 18 years of age with Highschool diploma or GED is required
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, written & verbal
  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.
  • Grasp, push, pull objects such as reference materials, files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to load and to change settings, devices, fixtures, on various equipment used in and around a classroom environment
  • Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive.
  • Ability to think logically and critically.
  • Ability to envision a project from beginning to end.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions

Responsibilities
  • Assist Classroom Teacher with implementing the daily curriculum.
  • Work as a team to collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army.
  • Foster a nurturing atmosphere. Assure that a method of positive discipline is always used. Make sure that all aspects of the classroom are running smoothly, transitions, routines, nap time, health and safety procedures, etc. Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment.
  • Make sure the classroom is clean, the materials are stocked, and the door is locked at the end of each day.
  • Assist The Children’s Learning Center Administration and Salvation Army staff in ensuring that The Children’s Learning Center continues to provide a high-quality program to the families we serve.
  • Be sure to voice your suggestions and needs about enhancing your work in the classroom with the classroom teacher and Director.
  • Pursue activities to further your own professional development. Become familiar with and follow through with EEC regulations, center policy, and Salvation Army policies.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and other meetings that arise.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policy and regulations governing staff and client relationships, hours of work, holiday and any other matters integral to the position.
