The New Guard Visits Northwest Film Forum

The New Guard visits Northwest Film Forum. Film by TeenTix January 20, 2026 On Saturday, January 17th members of the TeenTix New Guard went on their first Arts Outing of 2026: the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour at Northwest Film Forum. About the show: The 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour, presented by Vimeo, is a dynamic showcase of seven standout short films from this year's Festival, including two Festival Award - winning titles. Curated for theatrical audiences nationwide, the 100-minute program offers an eclectic mix of storytelling that highlights bold voices and fresh perspectives. "The Sundance Film Festival had an impressively diverse selection of movies! There was a war documentary, a cartoon action comedy, and multiple tense (sometimes even uncomfortable) dramas. I was even a bit disappointed we didn't get to see some of the films from the trailers they showed, because they looked hilarious. If you're willing to go in with an open mind, or just love movies in general, I think you'd have a great time." - Orion "This was my first time attending a film festival, and the Sundance Film Festival completely exceeded my expectations. I loved how the festival showcased a wide variety of genres, themes, and formats, from comedy and horror to documentaries and films in different languages. There was one film in particular that focused on debate, which really captivated me, and as a member of Model UN and Mock Trial, it felt especially memorable and relatable. Overall, the welcoming, creative atmosphere and the powerful stories made Sundance an experience I'd strongly recommend to teens." - Joey The 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour runs through Thursday, January 22nd. More information is available on Northwest Film Forum's website. The New Guard trains young people to become the next generation of arts leaders. A cohort of youth ages 13-19 works deeply with TeenTix and Arts Partners to give meaningful feedback from the teen perspective. New Guardians connect with fellow teen arts-goers to explore the arts and culture in its community and learn from the people who make it happen.

Duolingo names former Vimeo exec Gillian Munson as new CFO

Duolingo names former Vimeo exec Gillian Munson as new CFO. Duolingo has appointed Gillian Munson as its new chief financial officer, effective February 23, 2026. Munson, who has served on the company's board since 2019 and chaired its audit committee, will succeed Matt Skaruppa, who steps down after nearly six years and will move into an adviser role. She previously held CFO roles at Vimeo, Iora Health, and XO Group. Duolingo reported preliminary Q4 2025 metrics, with daily active users up about 30% year-on-year. Bookings came in at or slightly above its guidance range of US$329.5 million to US$335.5 million. The company said it will continue to invest in product development despite near-term tradeoffs. Food for thought. Munson brings transition experience to Duolingo with a profit and investment balance in view. * Munson served as CFO at Vimeo during its recent acquisition, and she said she helped steer that change 1. She also held the CFO role at Iora Health, a primary care company, and XO Group, a digital media and marketplace company 2. This background covers company shifts, though her approach at Duolingo may differ because the firm is public and favors steady investment over fast profit moves. * Preliminary Q4 results put daily active users up 30% with bookings at or slightly above the top of guidance 2. The company said it will keep funding product work "despite near-term tradeoffs" 2. That choice could squeeze margins, which Munson must manage while keeping investors on board, with outgoing CFO Matt Skaruppa posting "six consecutive years of disciplined financial growth" 2. Tech vendors targeting Duolingo's AI expansion should focus on biometric security and personalized learning infrastructure. * Duolingo is hiring for AI roles on test security, with work on neural networks for fraud detection using biometric signals like keystroke signatures, vision and sound models, and gaze tracking 3. The team is also building language models to detect large language model usage in test answers 3. These efforts open doors for vendors in computer vision, behavioral biometrics, and fraud detection tech. * Duolingo seeks a vice president of AI to set company-wide AI strategy and drive personalized learning at scale 4. It is also adding senior AI engineering managers 5. The firm runs over 300 simultaneous experiments 3. Together, these moves expand AI work beyond language learning into systematic personalization, which creates openings for partners in experimentation platforms, machine learning infrastructure, and personalization engines. Recent Duolingo developments. How would you feel if you could no longer use Tech in Asia?

Vimeo Launches AI-Powered Tools to Transform Video Creation and Monetization

Vimeo launches ai-powered tools to transform video creation and monetization. Vimeo has officially launched AI-powered features aimed at revolutionizing how creators produce and monetize their video content during the REFRAME 2025 conference. These innovative tools promise to make video production faster, smarter, and more rewarding for users. At the heart of this announcement is a suite of advanced features designed not only to enhance the creative process but also to improve discoverability and operational efficiency across video libraries. Notable among these is the "Ask Your Library" function, enabling natural language search within video collections, making it simpler for users to find specific content based on semantic context. Transformative features introduced. One of the most talked-about tools is Vimeo MCP (Model Context Protocol), which connects video libraries directly to large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. This connectivity allows for custom workflows that enable users to interact with video content beyond traditional browsing methods. Another feature, the Answer Engine Optimization tool, automates the generation of metadata, significantly aiding in content discoverability. This development is complemented by the launch of enhanced streaming analytics via NPAW, ultimately benefiting creators looking to monetize their work through ads and sponsorships. Streamlined collaboration with Adobe Premiere Pro. Vimeo's new features also include a closed-beta version of Vimeo Review, which will be released widely in November 2025. This tool allows for time-stamped comments and direct integration with Adobe Premiere Pro, streamlining the feedback process for creative teams working on video projects. The bigger picture: shaping the future of video creation. CEO Philip Moyer emphasizes the importance of these tools in enabling creators to maintain full control of their content while leveraging the latest AI advancements. The REFRAME conference highlighted Vimeo's commitment to supporting creators, ensuring they have the necessary tools to grow their audience and maximize their creative potential without compromising their artistic vision. Looking ahead. As the video production landscape evolves, Vimeo is at the forefront, providing innovative solutions that cater to the needs of modern creators. The success of beta features like "Ask Your Library" and early feedback from the Vimeo Review will be critical indicators of how well these tools are adopted in the coming months. With enterprise-grade analytics, enhanced streaming capabilities, and plans for VR180 support by Q4 2025, Vimeo is setting the stage for a new era of video creation. In conclusion, Vimeo's announcements at REFRAME 2025 represent a significant leap in the creator economy, blending artificial intelligence with practical tools that address creators' real-world challenges. For video professionals looking to enhance their production value and streamline workflows, these innovations could be game-changing. Keep an eye out for the full rollout of these features and consider how they might benefit your next video project. Each week, PodcastVideos.com, LLC. share the trends, tools and tactics you need to stay ahead of industry shifts, platform updates and content best practices. Vimeo is upgrading support for Apple Vision Pro 3D video

Vimeo is upgrading support for Apple Vision Pro 3D video. Apple Vision Pro owners should get more 3D video to enjoy soon Vimeo has announced improved support for 3D video, which may position the service as a superior alternative to YouTube for Apple Vision Pro users. The news means that Apple Vision Pro owners, including the recently released M5 model, can expect more 3D content in the future. Perhaps the most notable announcement was Vimeo's addition of Apple Immersive Video support. The format allows for stereoscopic 8K video as well as Spatial Audio support via the headset's speakers and AirPods Pro earbuds. Currently, Apple Immersive Video is only available to videos viewed via the Apple TV app. That makes Vimeo's news particularly notable. Vimeo also confirmed that it is adding support for VR180, a more common standard for 3D video. As the name suggests, VR180 supports a 180-degree field of vision so viewers can see more content. Finally, Vimeo announced support for Apple Projected Media Profile (APMP), a format that was first unveiled during Apple's WWDC 2025 event. Unlike VR180, this file format supports 180- and 360-degree video support alongside Wide FOV video. APMP is used to specify the encoding and decoding method, as well as other camera details, as 9to5Mac noted on Thursday. Vimeo notes that the APMP support will allow "creators to capture in Blackmagic cameras, edit in Final Cut Pro, and distribute directly via Vimeo". Vimeo also took the wraps off a raft of new features, including a new AI-powered search offering. While viewing 3D video has long been a key feature for Apple Vision Pro, owners have had to deal with a dearth of content. This news could change that, and represents a key differentiator for Vimeo. YouTube, Vimeo's biggest competitor, has so far nearly completely ignored Apple's entry into the 3D space. By directly supporting Apple-specific features and formats, Vimeo could position itself as the home for 3D content creators. Not to mention those who want to watch that content. So far, it's been left to Apple to fill the content void, despite Disney+ offering some 3D experiences. Seven new Apple Immersive films were added to the Apple TV app recently. Videos including MotoGP races, BBC Proms, and a documentary following Australia's Eastern Kuku Yalanji people are now available to watch for free.

Impact XM Client Vimeo Wins Gold at the 2025 MarCom Awards

Impact XM client Vimeo wins Gold at the 2025 MarCom Awards. Impact XM is proud to celebrate Vimeo's Gold win at the 2025 MarCom Awards for its immersive and visually striking trade show experience at NAB. The MarCom Awards is an international competition that honors excellence in marketing, communication, and design, recognizing creative achievement and innovation across industries. After stepping away from the trade show floor, Vimeo returned to NAB with a bold ambition: to reestablish itself as a leader in the video industry and reconnect with its diverse community of creators, production teams, and enterprise users. Together, Vimeo and Impact XM set out to design a space that not only represented the brand but allowed attendees to experience it. Drawing inspiration from the cinematic allure of a screening room, the booth created an atmosphere that was both immersive and magnetic. Suspended high above the show floor, a dramatic four-sided angular structure in Vimeo's signature colors acted as a visual beacon, drawing attendees in from across the convention center. At its heart stood an 18-foot Vimeo tower crowned with a massive LED wall that showcased real content from Vimeo's global creator community - transforming the booth into a living, ever-evolving celebration of creativity. Beneath the tower, a purpose-built theater invited guests to sit, watch, and experience the platform in action. Surrounding areas were thoughtfully designed to balance energy and connection, with live demos, expert talks, and comfortable lounges fostering meaningful interactions between attendees and the Vimeo team. The result was an experience that did more than capture attention; it reignited Vimeo's presence in the industry and celebrated the creativity of its community. This Gold MarCom Award win highlights the power of partnership, innovation, and experiential storytelling, and reinforces Impact XM's ongoing commitment to creating award-winning brand experiences that inspire connection and leave a lasting impact.
