About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic Controller to join our Finance team at Forme. The Controller will be a crucial finance team member and oversee the company’s financial reporting, accounting, and control functions. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial management. The Controller will increase the quality, reliability, timeliness, and impact of our financial reporting.  The Controller will work closely with the leadership team to enable better decision-making as informed by financial reporting and analysis. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Controller to join a growing company and play a key role in driving financial results. You will report directly to the Head of Business Operations & Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

• Implement a new or initial corporate ERP system, including structuring of GL accounts

• Comfort in defining accounting systems and processes with a proven track record of driving accuracy, efficiency, and visibility 

• Consolidate, reconcile, and report monthly, quarterly, and annual financials

• Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements, including for investors to support fundraising and the Board of Directors

• Build and maintain financial forecasts to support budget development, scenario planning, and decision making

• Design and enforced expense management policies, including oversight of corporate credit cards, A/P process, and evaluating new solutions to improve management of T&E

• Successful completion of company audits from relevant regulatory entities

• Partner cross-functionally with company leaders to create and achieve financial KPIs and support decisions based on financial analysis

• Connect financial reporting to operational reporting to drive scalability and profitability 

This role will meaningfully influence key decisions at the leadership level and drive increased rigor, visibility, and scalability across the Company.  

Key Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and an active CPA license, MBA a plus

• 5+ years experience in a controller or senior accounting roles at accounting firms and/or start-ups in highly regulated industries

• Experience working in FinTech, especially with asset management, insurance, and/or tax-related revenues. Experience with an RIA is a plus

• You are highly technical: You have excellent technical accounting skills and deep knowledge of GAAP accounting rules and reporting standards

• You’re an enthusiastic self-starter: You thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. You are highly accountable and hold yourself to a high standard.

• You’re meticulous and analytical: You pay close attention to details and can identify trends and provide insights to support business decisions through data analysis
