Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Georgia.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider training in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures in an ambulatory health care setting and clinical expertise.
  • Experience working with adult, pediatric, and multicultural populations.
  • Familiarity with case management for obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Ability to perform IV therapy independently using universal and patient safety precautions.
  • Ability to initiate cardiac monitoring via 2-lead or 12-lead electrocardiograms as specified by a physician.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing functions in the clinical area.
  • Perform and direct nursing care and patient education as appropriate.
  • Develop and monitor patient care plans for assigned patients.
  • Complete treatments or procedures ordered by physicians or mid-level providers and assist with procedures when necessary.
  • Direct patient flow in the medical treatment area and ensure the accuracy and completion of medical records.
  • Maintain adequate medical supply stock and ensure equipment is in good repair and working order.
  • Prepare record logs and reports accurately and thoroughly and submit them on time.
  • Assist in supervising medical assistants as needed for efficient operation of the center.
  • Maintain appropriate nursing certification through clinical medical education or continuing education units.
  • Participate in pertinent in-service education planned by the center to improve job performance.
  • Check and maintain the emergency cart and manage medical emergencies under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Identify and take appropriate action on medical emergencies according to Basic Cardiac Life Support protocols.
  • Collaborate with a social worker and nutritionist for complete case management.
  • Participate in off-site meetings, seminars, workshops, health fairs, and community presentations.
  • Assist in maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments regulations for the organization.
  • Make referrals to outside agencies upon request of the physician.
  • Support and adhere to administrative and nursing policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training and orienting new personnel.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of medical assistants.
